The “drop-it-all-in-via-chopper” has its advantages, but it also suffers from a 650kg component limit: requiring more components per module. I also know how difficult it is to find a still day in Wellington…
I’m also contemplating some other approaches:
- Use a large crane to hoist whole modules from the road below to a sled / skid / ramp structure running up the slope. We could then winch each module up on skids ‘til it reaches its resting place further up the ramp.
- Build a big jig at the bottom of said ramp using scaffolding / tent to keep the rain out etc. Bring all components to site in flat-pack form and assemble them under cover. Winch each completed module up on skids as per the previous option.
