The intention of this ‘blog is to:
- act as an information repository for all things pertaining to the building project
- document my process
- act as a forum for friends / acquaintances / colleagues to comment on the design, maybe raise an architectural polemic or two
- explore (get to know) a content management system which I eventually intend to use for general purpose website development
I’ve failed on all counts other than the last one, I suspect. The actual design is scores of revisions ahead of my posts to the blog – I never seem to be able to find the time to post each design revision. Understandable, maybe, but disappointing none-the-less.
Problem is, we’ve been hoping against hope that we can get the damn thing built this year: I’ve been rapidly prototyping a variety of detailing responses / approaches, working as fast as I dare to get the council submission / structural sign-off phase out of the way. I rarely bother to finish any design revision model – when I’ve learnt what I need from a 3d design investigation, I tend to move onto a new model / drawing immediately.
This has resulted in my rarely posting much on the blog – nothing has been deemed “finished” or “presentable” enough. God only knows why I got the silly idea that presentation of the design should take precedence over the actual recording of the design process.
Presentation Document will be the way from here on in.
