Unfinished council submission drawings in pdf:
2d plans are a sod to show at small scale on a computer screen – unless you zoom in and are prepared to pan around the image. Instead of offering lousy low-res versions of the drawings, we offer them as links so that you can pan and zoom around them to your heart’s content in pdf (at whatever size you can max-to with your monitor setup):
I didn’t get any further – there’s something rotten with the design: it has lost its connection to the “diagram” or whatever. I no like, and so I’ve retraced my steps, and have discovered where I think my process derailed: I went too fat (literally) in trying to maximise lateral space to the north (into the slope). It may be cheaper, concentrating the footprint of the house where the slope is not as aggressive, but you end up with a very conventional barn – kind of cute but with no cajones…
I also discovered that the fatness was requiring us to dig into the slope a little more than I had hoped, and we were starting to challenge height limits at the southern end of the site.

The new design is longer, lighter, better. I have some calculations from my structural engineer (I’ve been very conservative in my structural sizing estimates), and I’m developing the latest 3d model.
I hope to be able to post something tangible (and final, dammit!) within the week.
